W E L C O M E

Hi! I am Elli Lucine, an always-curious outdoors person who loves travel, music, family, friends, and making things.

Originally an LA native, I followed my nose to the Eastern Sierras in 2009 and decided it was a slice of heaven too sweet to leave.
I sometimes escape to Los Angeles and San Francisco for tunes and eats and to find out what people who don’t live in the woods are up to, but my heart and my home base are here where it's a desert on one side of the highway and an alpine wonderland on the other.

You can find me skating frozen lakes in the winter, hiking distances I didn't prepare for in the summer, and geeking out on science podcasts year round. I also eat ice cream sandwiches for breakfast, consume IG Reels like a teenage girl, and shove half the internet onto my Pinterest boards because. . . eh, balance.

I consider myself a California wedding photographer as it’s my beloved home - and a destination wedding photographer because I average about a month of each year out of either the state or country. The pandemic put a wet blanket on this part of my life, but when the world is safe again, I’ll definitely be eating, drinking, and exploring my way back across it!

I am the type of person who absolutely loves making new friends and believes there’s something I can learn from and appreciate about everyone, so please feel welcome to say hello :)

H I S T O R Y

I’ve always loved making photos; who doesn’t.
But wedding photography shot this into a whole new dimension for me, and I knew I needed to pursue it full-time.

I had a degree in Human Development from UCSD and was managing a restaurant when I began second shooting weddings for the rad and talented Minaret Photo in 2017. My objective at the time was to improve a much-liked hobby and connect with the community, but I loved shooting weddings so much that, by the end of the season, I quit my long term position at the restaurant and went full sprint into making photos.

It is an honor to document people, their connections, and the important moments of their lives. That I get to pour creative and collaborative energy into my work is a privilege, and I consider myself lucky to have a career this fulfilling.

As a documentary style photographer, I am here to get to know you, so I can know how best to tell your story.

I am here to develop trust and ease with you, so you resonate with the images we make together.

I feel confident in my ability to take flattering photos, but my goal is to make more than just a pretty picture. I want to make the types of photographs that carry you back in time over and over again, and I want to click into place the live moments that can’t be done over.

I could go on and on about my style and values, but I believe my clients’ galleries will say it better than I can. Please get in touch for a link to those.

During portrait times, you’ll get direction and cues from me, but I try to prompt natural responses and document those rather than expecting you to “turn it on” for the camera. You absolutely do not have to know how to model or pose! Most people in my galleries have little to no experience in any type of photo shoot. It’s more about enjoying the moment and relaxing, and I’m happy to lay out all my dweeb moves to make things fun and light for portrait time.

Editing-wise, my goal is for your photos to stand the test of time while remaining stylish. This means I will opt for more classic and broad color variety and saturation rather than the trendy (albeit very lovely) look circulating online. There is an option for further editing at a set hourly rate if you’d like images touched up or would like to purchase a batch of edits in a different style. I like to have my cake and eat it twice, so just let me know if you’re the same!
